On 21 June 2022, Markant Services International GmbH (MSI) visited the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Schaad. Together with Jens Heiderich (Head of the IT Performance Centre), I had the opportunity to speak to around thirty students from the sessions of Prof. Dr. Schaad and Prof. Dr. Singer.
The official Markant news article (including context on MSI and the Β«Software engineering pays off!Β» session) is available here:

What I focused on in the session
Alongside the broader topic of why solid software engineering matters in practice, I used the slot to introduce ideas from Domain-Driven Design (DDD). In particular, I walked through Event Storming as a collaborative technique to explore a problem space, surface domain events, and narrow down the domains of a project so boundaries and language stay understandable for both business and engineering.
If you were in the room: thanks for the interest, questions, and discussion β it was great to connect the day-to-day work we do in the Cloud Services team with ideas you can apply in your own projects.
